SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of video processing and transmission, and more specifically to the transmission of image signals or image parts, the size of which can vary from image to image or from image part to image part. The proposed method for decoding an encoded image from an encoded video sequence is performed by at least one processor, and the method includes decoding, from a set of parameters, a plurality of possible decoded resolutions; selecting, by means of an index encoded in the temporal header structure applicable to the sample group, a possible decoded resolution among the plurality of possible decoded resolutions; resampling a sample from the group of samples based on the output resolution and the selected candidate decoded resolution; and resampling the prediction using the resampled sample.
