SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to data processing technologies, in particular, to encoding a point cloud. Proposed is a processor-executed method for encoding a point cloud. Method includes a stage of receiving data corresponding to the point cloud from the bitstream. According to the method, the first prediction remainder of the first component from multiple components of the attribute associated with the point cloud is obtained from said data, wherein the data corresponding to the point cloud is encoded based on intercomponent prediction accounting for the correlation between the multiple components. The first prediction remainder is also restored. Then the predicted second prediction remainder is determined based on the restored first prediction remainder and at least one model parameter for intercomponent signal prediction.
EFFECT: reduction in the amount of data needed to represent a data cloud for the purpose of faster transfer thereof or reduction of the storage volume.
