FIELD: composites.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing a ceramic composite based on silicon nitride (Si3N4) containing titanium nitride (TiN), usable in producing armour and insulation materials. At the first stage of the process, silicon nitride, titanium nitride, and metallic titanium are mixed in a planetary mill in the presence of isopropanol. The mixture is then dried at 90 °C and compressed at a pressure of 100 MPa; then fired at 1,600 °C in a nitrogen atmosphere for 1 hour. The metallic titanium has a grain size of 1 to 10 mcm. A sintering additive of CaO-Al2O3 with a eutectic temperature of 1,360 °C is used for sintering.
EFFECT: production of a Si3N4-TiN composite with high values of hardness and electrical conductivity.
