FIELD: composite materials.

SUBSTANCE: method for producing a composite material with ceramic matrix and ceramic reinforcing filler. Material has high strength characteristics for operation at high temperatures, aggressive environments and increased mechanical stress, which can be used for the manufacture of structural ceramics, including plain bearings. Silicon carbide powder is mixed with a sintering additive and silicon carbide fibres, blanks are formed and fired by hot pressing at a temperature of 1900°C with a maximum specific pressure of 30 MPa for 20 min. As a reinforcing component, silicon carbide fibres 1-2 mm long and 7 mcm in diameter, obtained by the method of liquid-phase siliconization of carbon felt, are used. Silicon carbide powder is obtained by the method of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis.

EFFECT: increased strength characteristics of silicon carbide ceramics.
