FIELD: nuclear power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention is used for measurement of oxygen concentration in liquid metal. A potentiometric oxygen sensor for measuring oxygen concentration in liquid metal, in particular in molten metal of a nuclear reactor, contains: a metal tube forming at least part of a sensor case, an electrochemical node containing an electrolyte intended for contact with liquid metal, and a reference electrode being in the electrolyte, wherein the electrolyte consists of yttriated or calcinated hafnium oxide (HfO2), or of thorium oxide (ThO2), optionally yttriated or calcinated, or of yttriated or calcinated zirconium (ZrO2), while the reference electrode contains at least one metal and its oxide form at a working temperature of the sensor; an insert of transition metal of the 4th group of the periodic table or one of its alloys, located between part of the sensor case and the electrolyte, wherein the insert is attached to part of the sensor case and is soldered to the electrolyte by solder connection, while a heat expansion coefficient of the insert is close to a heat expansion coefficient of the electrolyte and is less than a heat expansion coefficient of part of the sensor case, rigidity of the insert is higher than rigidity of part of the sensor case.
EFFECT: provision of a possibility of reliable measurements for a long time in conditions of temperature and pressure of liquid sodium.
