FIELD: material processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of thermochemical processing of materials in a solid phase, in particular, to nitration of titanium coatings on solid substrate. A method for nitration of titanium coatings on solid substrate includes open air impact on coating without its preheating with low-temperature nitrogen plasma with atmospheric pressure, with an average-weight temperature in the range from 6720°C to 9720°C, for 0.8-1.1 min to obtain coating with hardness of 25.5-27 GPa, having hydrophobic properties. Direct current plasmatron is used as a plasma source.
EFFECT: creation of a method providing obtainment of coatings of high hardness with hydrophobic properties.
