SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for nitriding titanium coatings on a solid substrate. The method includes exposing the coating to low-temperature nitrogen plasma at atmospheric pressure in open air without preheating with a mass average temperature in the range from 3,727°C to 4,727°C for 0.8 to 1.1 min in order to form a coating with a hardness of 25.5 to 27 GPa, exhibiting hydrophilic properties. A DC plasma torch is used as a plasma source.

EFFECT: creation of a coating with hydrophilic properties.
