SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for packaging portioned, paste-like products in a processing state into a wrapper cut from a web of packaging material, wherein the web of packaging material is transported in the direction of a pair of folding tabs open at the top, cut off to form a flat wrapper blank, and the blank is positioned above a pair of folding tabs, and the product is dosed, a portion of the product is preformed, and the blank is folded in a pair of folding paws to form a wrapper open at the top due to the supply of a preformed portion of the product, then the upwardly protruding side longitudinal edges of the open at the top of the wrapper are bent inward onto the preformed portion of the product, after which onto the preformed portion of the product, the transverse edges of the wrapper, which run generally perpendicular to the lateral longitudinal edges of the wrapper, are folded inwards. The invention provides that at least the lateral longitudinal edges, preferably also the transverse edges of the wrapper are folded inward onto the preformed portion of the product and are simultaneously connected to each other while the wrapper provided with the preformed portion of the product is still in a pair of folding tabs.
EFFECT: invention also relates to a packaging machine suitable for carrying out said method.
