SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of terminals and provides a method and equipment for monitoring movement data for use in monitoring user movement data in sports that require a variety of real-time actions and improving user interaction in sports. The method for monitoring motion data includes: collecting the angular velocity signal and the acceleration signal of the user by an electronic device; obtaining by an electronic device the characteristics of the angular velocity waveform based on the angular velocity signal and obtaining the characteristics of the waveform for the acceleration signal based on the acceleration signal; determining by an electronic device the characteristics of the user’s gait in accordance with the characteristics of the waveform for the angular velocity signal and the characteristics of the waveform for the acceleration signal, where the gait characteristic includes the duration of the flight of the user’s foot from lifting off the ground to touching the ground; and the determination by the electronic device of the movement data in accordance with the gait characteristic, where the movement data includes the height of the jump.

EFFECT: ensuring monitoring of the specifics of actions caused by a specialized kind of sports, with the provision of a more desirable sports experience and more accurate data collection.
