FIELD: gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for the production of gaseous pure hydrogen in installations related to gas transportation systems. A method for the production of hydrogen of natural gas includes heating of tapes of carbon foil in a sealed water-cooled chamber by direct passage of electrical current and thermal decomposition of natural gas in a gap between two parallel carbon tapes. Natural gas is preliminary dried from water steams. A difference of electrical potentials is created between tapes of carbon foil. Hydrogen isolated from a reaction chamber in a cyclic way is supplied via a compressor to a high-pressure vessel. Pyrocarbon is also formed as a result of pyrolysis of natural gas.
EFFECT: invention allows for elimination of isolation of carbon dioxide, when producing pure hydrogen of natural gas.
