FIELD: gas treatment. SUBSTANCE: invention aims at purifying natural gas until it fits requirements for commercial gas, in particular, dew point between 0 and -18 C and content of hydrogen sulfide below 4 ppm v/v. Hydrogen sulfide and water are removed simultaneously from gas in absorption tower wherein gas is brought into contact with amine-glycol solution. The latter is then heated, evaporated and brought into contact with drying gas to be freed of H2S and water. After that, drying gas containing removed H2S and water is burned with air to convert H2S into SO2 which is further absorbed in contact apparatus into which sea water is fed to be brought into contact with exhausted gas from combustion apparatus. Absorption solution is preferably mixture of primary and/or secondary alkanolamines dissolved in mono-, di-, and/or triethylene glycol.
