SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an aerosol-generating article and a method for manufacture thereof. The technical result is achieved by the aerosol-generating article constituting an article made to be inserted into an aerosol-generating apparatus for generating an aerosol, wherein the aerosol-generating article comprises: an aerosol-forming substrate part containing crushed tobacco leaves and configured to form an aerosol when electrically heated by the aerosol-generating apparatus; and a mouthpiece part located downstream relative to the aerosol-forming substrate part to form the downstream end of the aerosol-generating article, wherein the aerosol-forming substrate part does not contain tobacco material other than crushed tobacco leaves or a mixture wherein crushed tobacco leaves and a whole leaf of reconstituted tobacco are mixed in a mass ratio in the range from 6:4 to 9:1; the cutting width of the crushed tobacco leaves is in the range from 1.0 mm to 1.4 mm; the tobacco leaves are cut to the same length, wherein the crushed tobacco leaves have a length no longer than the preset cutting width, the content of crushed tobacco leaves included in the aerosol-forming substrate part is in the range from 150 to 200 mg, the moisture content of the crushed tobacco leaves is in the range of 12% to 17% of the total mass of the crushed tobacco leaves, the crushed tobacco leaves contain a moistening agent in the range of 9 to 12 wt.%, the moistening agent constitutes glycerin, propylene glycol, or a combination thereof wherein the mass ratio of glycerin to propylene glycol is in the range from 1:1 to 9:1; the technical result is also achieved by the method for manufacturing such an article.
