FIELD: ferrous metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of ferrous metallurgy, in particular to the production of steel in an electric arc furnace. Metal charge is supplied to the furnace, including solid metal charge and liquid iron, oxygen is blown and melt is discharged. First, liquid iron is poured into the furnace, at the same time, the bath is purged with oxygen with a gradual increase in its flow rate from 8000 to 14000 m3/h as the iron is poured, in the second half of the oxidation process, solid metal charge in the form of hot briquetted iron is introduced, while the amount of liquid iron is 85 -95% of the weight of the metal charge.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to produce steel without consuming electricity and electrodes while providing conditions for effective slag formation and dephosphorization.
