FIELD: ferrous metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the production of steel in an electric arc furnace. Metal charge is supplied to the furnace, including solid metal charge and liquid iron, oxygen is blown and melt is discharged. First, liquid iron is poured into the furnace, at the same time the bath is purged with oxygen with a gradual increase of its flow rate from 8,000 to 12,000 m3/h as the iron is poured, oxidized pellets are introduced in the second half of the oxidation process, the oxidized pellets are added evenly in the course of melting, whereas the amount of liquid iron is 87-97% of the weight of the metal charge.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to produce steel without consuming electricity and electrodes while providing conditions for effective slag formation and dephosphorization.
