FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: system for generating electricity from an electric field in power cables without establishing electrical contact with the main conductors (101) of the cable (801), including a power cable (606, 801) and an apparatus for generating energy from an electric field, wherein said apparatus captures the electric field inside the power cable. The apparatus for generating energy from an electric field (408) comprises an inner conductive sheet (402) made to collect energy from the electric field (102) near the conductor, an outer conductive sheet (403), and an electrically insulating layer (401) separating both conductive sheets (402) and (403) whereto loads are connected (404). The apparatus (408) is located between the cable layers as follows: over the inner semiconductor layer (201), over the primary insulation (104), or over the outer semiconductor layer (106) separately, wherein the loads (404) consume energy supplied by the inner conductive sheet (402), maintaining the electrical contact of the outer conductive sheet (403) with the reference voltage element relative to the inner conductive sheet (402).
