FIELD: image data processing.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to the field of equipment for detecting barcodes in a digital image presented in the form of a two-dimensional array of a digital image. The technical result is achieved by means of a method containing: applying a filter to the image array; calculating a discrete Radon transform of the filtered image array, wherein the discrete Radon transform is calculated for a set of discrete lines in said filtered image array, wherein a discrete Radon transform is calculated for a set of different offsets of the set discrete line for each set discrete line with a set slope, wherein said set of offsets is half the size of the image array; detecting the vertex points of the template in the output data of the discrete Radon transform calculated for the filtered image array; and converting the detected vertex points back into discrete lines in the image array to determine the location of the barcode present in the digital image.

EFFECT: provided improved means of detecting and localising barcodes present in a digital image.
