SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of production of metal carboxylates, in particular to a crystal form of calcium cys-2,3-epoxysuccinate, characterized by that crystals belong to P21/n spatial group, where parameters of a crystal lattice at 22°C are a=15.1916(2) , b=8.9121(1) , c=7.4724(1) , beta=103.309(1)°. A method for the production of a crystal form of calcium cys-2,3-epoxysuccinate is carried out by following stages: a) interaction of maleic anhydride or maleic acid with a calcium compound to obtain acid calcium maleate; b) epoxidation of acid calcium maleate with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of epoxidation catalysts to obtain acid calcium cys-2,3-epoxysuccinate; c) neutralization of acid calcium cys-2,3-epoxysuccinate by addition of the calcium compound; d) exposure of calcium cys-2,3-epoxysuccinate from 24 to 240 h to obtain a crystal form of calcium cys-2,3-epoxysuccinate, and e) isolation of crystals with a size of more than 50 mcm, which are a crystal form of calcium cys-2,3-epoxysuccinate, according to the invention. The invention also relates to a method for the production of L-(+)-tartaric acid, including the use of a crystal form of calcium cys-2,3-epoxysuccinate as a primer, where crystals belong to P21/n spatial group, wherein parameters of a crystal lattice at 22°C are a=15.1916(2) , b=8.9121(1) , c=7.4724(1) , beta=103.309(1)°, with subsequent fermentation of the resulting crystal form of calcium cys-2,3-epoxysuccinate to obtain calcium L-tartrate, and hydrolysis of calcium L-tartrate to obtain L-tartaric acid.
EFFECT: crystal form of calcium cys-2,3-epoxysuccinate, allowing for effective enzyme production of L-(+)-tartaric acid.
