SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for determining the density of hydrates used for calculations and design of technologies and equipment for the oil, gas and chemical industries. The method for determining the density of hydrates includes determining the number of molecules of water vapor and hydrate-forming gases absorbed by the cavities of the hydrate structures KS-I and KS-II, their molar masses, the characteristic geometric parameter of the unit cells of these structures and calculating the densities of hydrates according to the formulas, taking into account the density of hydrates of the KS structures -I and KS-II, molar masses of water and hydrate-forming gases, the number of absorbed water vapor molecules and components of hydrate-forming gases by hydrate structures KS-I and KS-II, the number of gas components in hydrate structures KS-I and KS-II, characteristic cell sizes of crystal lattices of hydrates of structures KS-I and KS-II. The characteristic cell sizes of the crystal lattices of hydrates of the KS-I and KS-II structures are calculated from the dependencies, taking into account the mole fractions of each gas component in the hydrate and the coefficients determined empirically for gas components in the crystal lattices of hydrates of the KS-I and KS-II structures, and as well as the temperature of hydrate formation.
