DEALKYLATION AND TRANSALKYLATION OF MIXED PHENOLS TO OBTAIN CREOSOLS Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC C07C37/50 C07C37/48 C07C39/07 C07C4/12 C07C11/02

Abstract RU 2787756 C1

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to two options of a method for the production of creosols from phenol-containing raw materials. According to one of options, the method includes: introduction of a flow containing phenols of raw materials into the first separation zone. Next, the flow containing phenols of raw materials is separated in the first separation zone into at least a phenol flow containing phenol, an alkyl-phenol flow containing heavy methyl-phenols and heavy alkyl-phenols, and a creosol flow containing creosols, where heavy alkyl-phenols include alkyl-phenols having alkyl group containing two or more carbon atoms. Then, heavy alkyl-phenols in the alkyl-phenol flow are dealkylated in a dealkylation zone in the presence of a dealkylation catalyst in dealkylation conditions to obtain creosols, phenol, heavy methyl-phenols, and olefins forming an output dealkylation flow containing phenol, creosols, heavy methyl-phenols, and olefins. The output dealkylation flow is further separated in a dealkylation separation zone into at least an olefin flow containing olefins and the second flow containing phenol, creosols, and heavy methyl-phenols. The phenol flow from the first separation zone and the second flow from the dealkylation separation zone are introduced into a transalkylation zone. Then, phenol and heavy methyl-phenols from the second flow and phenol in the phenol flow from the first separation zone are transalkylated in the transalkylation zone in the presence of a transalkylation catalyst in conditions of transalkylation to obtain additional creosols forming an output transalkylation flow containing additional creosols, unreacted phenol, unreacted heavy alkyl-phenols, and unreacted heavy methyl-phenols; the creosol flow and, optionally, the olefin flow or at least parts of the phenol flow or both flows are isolated.

EFFECT: invention allows for obtainment of phenol and creosol by an efficient method.
