FIELD: automotive engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to restoration of parts of automotive equipment, in particular cams of distributing shafts of internal combustion engines. Copying equipment is mounted perpendicularly up on a frame of a grinding machine after deposition for uniform removal of metal deposited on a surface of a cam. A copying ring is installed on a support neck of a distributing shaft, a shape of which corresponds to a factory shape of the cam, and a size of the copying ring is defined with a plane of installation of copying equipment. The cam, after deposition of metal on it, is subjected to grinding to reach a radius of a restored cam, limited with the copying ring and a curve of copying equipment, while, for uniform removal of metal from the surface of the cam, the distributing shaft is communicated with a reciprocating rocking movement to a grinding disc and a rotational movement around its own axis in elements retaining the distributing shaft.
EFFECT: invention provides restoration of deformed cams of a distributing shaft to their initial factory shapes and sizes with high accuracy.
