SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biotechnology, namely to the genetic engineering of higher plants, in particular to a method for obtaining non-transgenic mutant tobacco plants with a reduced nicotine content by knocking out genes of the putrescine-N-methyltransferase (PMT) family.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to obtain non-transgenic stable mutant tobacco lines with a reduced nicotine content in generations from self-pollination.
