FIELD: organic chemistry, specifically a method for producing 2-[(alkyl(phenyl)sulfanyl)methyl]benzamides of general formula (1).
SUBSTANCE: The method consists in the interaction of 2-[([2-(aminocarbonyl)phenyl]amino)methylamino]benzamide with alkyl(phenyl)thiols selected from a series of heptyl-, or isopropyl-, or tert-butyl-, or phenylthiol, in the presence of SmCl 3⋅ 6H 2 O as a catalyst, taken in a molar ratio of 2-[([2-(aminocarbonyl)phenyl]amino)methylamino]benzamide : thiol : [SmCl 3⋅ 6H 2 O] = 1:(0,5-1,5):(0,01-0,1) at a temperature of 60-80 °C for 7-9 h in a mixture of solvents EtOH : CHCl 3 (1:1, by volume).
EFFECT: The proposed method enables to produce 2-[(alkyl(phenyl)sulfanyl)methyl]benzamides of the general formula (1) with a yield of 29-81%.
