FIELD: analytical chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of analytical chemistry. A method is disclosed for the determination of iodine by direct titration of an aliquot with iodide ions with silver nitrate in the presence of starch and sulfuric acid until the blue color disappears, while before analysis, the aqueous solution of the analyte is subjected to electrolysis to generate iodine molecules at a constant current until a blue color appears, while the analysis is carried out without the use of potassium iodate.
EFFECT: invention provides simplification and acceleration of the analysis process, as well as an increase in the accuracy of the analysis.
