SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for treating, preventing or reducing the severity of an allergic reaction to an allergen. The method includes administering a therapeutically effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition containing an interleukin-4 receptor (IL-4R) antagonist to a subject allergic to an allergen, wherein said IL-4R antagonist is an antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof that specifically binds to IL-4R, where the antibody or antigennegative fragment contains three HCDR (HCDR1, HCDR2 and HCDR3) and three LCDR (LCDR1, LCDR2 and LCDR3), and HCDR1 contains the amino acid sequence with the identifier SEQ ID NO: 3; HCDR2 contains the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 4; HCDR3 contains the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 5; LCDR1 contains the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 6; LCDR2 contains the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 7; and LCDR3 contains the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 8; wherein the method comprises repeatedly administering the pharmaceutical composition to the subject prior to exposure to the allergen.

EFFECT: use of the method is highly effective in preventing or reducing the severity of allergies and in reducing the total level of IgE in the subject's blood serum.
