SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to immunotherapy with antibodies binding tau protein. A method for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease (hereinafter – AD) from a light to moderate degree of severity and a method for preservation or increase in one or more of a memory volume, a memory function, or a cognitive function, or slowing down of memory loss in an individual with AD from a light to moderate degree of severity are proposed. Methods provide intravenous injection to an individual, once every 4 weeks, of an antibody, which binds human tau protein, at a dose of 4500 mg. The antibody contains HVR-H1 with SEQ ID NO: 20, HVR-H2 with SEQ ID NO: 21, HVR-H3 with SEQ ID NO: 22, HVR-L1 with SEQ ID NO: 23, HVR-L2 with SEQ ID NO: 24, and HVR-L3 with SEQ ID NO: 25.

EFFECT: inventions provide safe and tolerated, at injection in high doses, treatment of patients suffering from AD and preservation or increase in a memory volume, a memory function, or a cognitive function, or slowing down of memory loss.
