SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of construction, namely to increase the area of foundations with insufficient bearing capacity of the base. The objective of the invention is to increase the reliability of the formation of the sub-foundation space with the broadening of the base of the foundation. The objective and the effect are achieved due to the fact that in the known method for widening the sole of the foundation, which provides for excavation of soil from the outside of the building at the place of widening the foundation to the installation depth of the widening block, placing the widening block under the foundation using a jack lowered into the recess, according to the invention, in in the pit, a steel box-shaped container is additionally placed for sampling soil from under the foundation, and the foundation broadening block is pushed by a jack into the sub-foundation space, formed by pressing under the base of the foundation with a jack, followed by removal also by a jack after filling the steel box-shaped container with soil with cross-sectional dimensions corresponding to the dimensions of the block expansion of the foundation, while the length of the container corresponds to the length of the block of the expansion of the foundation, and its design provides for decompression holes to remove compressible internal air by the soil entering the container.

EFFECT: preservation of the structure of the soil base; invention increases the reliability of the formation of the sub-foundation space while maintaining the structure of the soil base.
