FIELD: gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device and a method for extraction of methane from a gas mixture containing methane, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen sulfide. The device contains a gas compressor, two or three membrane separation stages downstream from the compressor, and a hydrogen sulfide adsorber containing an activated carbon layer having catalytic activity relatively to hydrogen sulfide oxidation with oxygen, located upstream from membrane separation stages, with the possibility of adjustment of an oxygen content and relative moisture content to provide optimal adsorption capacity of the hydrogen sulfide adsorber due to permeate recirculation from the second membrane separation stage, which receives retentate from the first membrane separation stage, to a point upstream from the hydrogen sulfide adsorber.
EFFECT: optimal adsorption capacity of a hydrogen sulfide adsorber, while additional equipment or additional energy costs are not required, or their insignificant amount is required.
