FIELD: physiotherapy; coloproctology.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to restore the reservoir function of the reduced intestine or rectum using the biofeedback method — biofeedback therapy. A latex balloon is inserted into the rectum or reduced intestine. The first step is to carry out stepwise insufflation of the balloon in the rectum or reduced intestine until the patient has a feeling of painful filling of the intestine — the maximum tolerated volume (MTV). If the patient does not feel MPV, insufflation is carried out to a threshold intra-intestinal pressure of 50 mm Hg. Art. according to anorectal manometry. In this case, the patient compresses the muscles of the pelvic floor and the external anal sphincter, simulating the retention of intestinal contents, while relaxing the muscles of the anterior abdominal wall and performing diaphragmatic relaxation breathing. The second step is to carry out stepwise insufflation of the balloon with air in a volume of 20 ml less than that obtained earlier. In this case, the patient holds this volume for one minute. The air is then released from the balloon. The second stage is repeated 3 times. The air volume retention exposure in the second step is increased daily by one minute until reaching five minutes. The duration of the course of biofeedback therapy is 10 to 30 days.
EFFECT: method provides improvement of the function of retaining intestinal contents, optimization of the storage function of the lowered/rectal intestine by teaching the patient, based on visual confirmation of the correct differentiation of one's own sensations, reflex contraction of the pelvic floor muscles in response to the filling of the intestine, training these muscles, as well as diaphragmatic relaxation breathing.
