FIELD: energy absorbing devices.
SUBSTANCE: energy-absorbing device contains an energy-absorbing element made in the form of a band of material. The ends of the energy-absorbing element in the area of application of the loading force are attached to the mating contact surfaces of the central mandrel. The energy-absorbing element with a central mandrel is designed with the option of fixing on one part of the vehicle structure, and the spherical deforming elements are designed with the option of fixing on another mating part of the vehicle structure at a fixed distance above each other and symmetrically with respect to the horizontal plane of symmetry of the energy-absorbing element with a central mandrel with the possibility moving together with the central mandrel in the direction of the loading force. Along the central axis of the central mandrel, there are longitudinal grooves on its two opposite sides; its transverse profiles repeat the profiles of the outer surfaces of the spherical deforming elements and form a gap with them not less than the thickness of the energy-absorbing element material tape. There is a "lead-in" contact area on the energy-absorbing element for spherical deforming elements, pre-fabricated by moulding.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of the absorbing device, increased reliability and simplified design.
