FIELD: analytical chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method for determining the total content of organotin compounds in natural waters including the analysis of two samples of the analyzed water, while nitric acid, taken in a ratio of 9:1, is added to one of the samples, followed by microwave mineralization. The resulting mineralizate is evaporated to wet salts, then redissolved in deionized water, and L-cysteine is added at a concentration of 0.75-1.00 g/dm3 as a masking agent, and the total tin content is determined. Before analysis of the second sample, the Diapak C18 sorbent is prepared by sequentially passing deionized water and methanol through such sorbent. After washing of the sorbent with deionized water, a filtered sample of analyzed water is passed through the sorbent. The separation of tin into inorganic and organic is carried out on the Diapak C18 sorbent in the pH range of 9-12, after separation, nitric acid is added, taken in a ratio of 9:1, followed by microwave mineralization of the analyzed sample. The obtained mineralizate is evaporated to wet salts, redissolved in deionized water, and L-cysteine is added in the concentration range of 0.75-1.00 g/dm3 as a masking agent. Inorganic tin is determined in each of the obtained solutions by generating tin hydrides using an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer or an inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometer, the total content of organotin compounds is determined by the difference between the total tin content and the content of inorganic tin.
EFFECT: possibility of selective separation of inorganic and organic tin in natural waters of different salinity and an increase in the accuracy of determining the total content of organotin compounds.
