FIELD: geology of gas hydrates.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to determine the content of liquid water in gas-saturated rocks containing porous gas hydrates. Content of the liquid phase of water is determined by recording the NMR signal from hydrogen atoms, while the moisture-saturated sample is placed in a high-pressure cell made of high-strength polyetheretherketone, which has low thermal conductivity and low interference for the NMR signal, the sample is frozen, gas is supplied to pressure exceeding the pressure of hydrate formation, and start the process of hydrate formation, while thermal cycling is used to intensify it, namely, heating/cooling of water that has not turned into a hydrate, within the hydrate stability region with a transition through 0°C, until a constant pressure is established in the cell high pressure with a hydrate-containing sample. After that, NMR testing is carried out and the amount of equilibrium water in the hydrate-containing soil sample is determined from the graphs of the distribution of the lateral relaxation time.
EFFECT: development of a method that ensures the determination of the true amount of equilibrium water in hydrate-containing rocks under various thermobaric conditions using NMR measurement, as well as in reducing the time spent on the experiment by reducing the time for sample preparation.
