FIELD: medicine, therapy, neurology, psychiatry.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions is intended for the treatment of a cognitive impairment associated with a central nervous system (CNS) disorder in a subject. A specified CNS disorder is mild cognitive impairment causing memory loss, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease (AD), AD’s prodrome, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or anticancer therapy-associated cognitive impairment. Brivaracetam or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is administered in an amount of 0.7-180 mg per day to treat said cognitive impairment in a subject in need thereof or at risk of its occurrence. Also provided is a pharmaceutical composition for oral administration once a day containing 0.7-180 mg of brivaracetam or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
EFFECT: improvement or normalization of cognitive functions in a subject with a CNS disorder, and prevention or slowing of the progression of said CNS disorder accompanied by cognitive impairment.
