FIELD: production of wood neutron shielding materials.

SUBSTANCE: production of wood neutron-protective materials used to protect biological objects from neutron radiation generated by nuclear power plants, and can be used in a method for its manufacture. A stack of wood is placed in an autoclave with an open sealing cover and subjected to pre-impregnation treatment with microwave radiation with an energy of 1 to 2.4 W/cm2 and a frequency of 915±15 MHz until the temperature of the wood reaches 90°C and reducing its moisture content to 25-30%. Then, the autoclave is sealed, the impregnating boron-containing liquid is fed into the autoclave in a volume that ensures complete immersion of the wood, and a vacuum is created in the autoclave tank in the pulsating vacuum mode with a pressure of 0.05-0.08 MPa until a stable time-independent vacuum is established in the chamber, hold the wood in a steady vacuum for 20-25 minutes, after which a pulsating pressure mode is created in the autoclave vessel in the range Pmax = 0.8 MPa and Pmin = 0.5 MPa until the rate of pressure pulse drop decreases to a value equal to or less than 0.001 MPa/s, that is, up to the limiting absorption of the impregnating solution by the wood. Then, by opening the autoclave cover, the remaining impregnating liquid is removed, the impregnated wood is dried with microwave radiation with an energy of 1 to 2.4 W/cm2 and a frequency of 915±15 MHz to a moisture content of 25-30%, and the wood is unloaded.

EFFECT: enhancement of the impregnation process productivity.
