FIELD: veterinary medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for the course use of a medicinal product based on trazodone succinate for the treatment of cognitive dysfunction in elderly dogs and cats, which consists in administering to an animal in need of such treatment the said medicinal product in the first three days of administration in a single dose of 3–6 mg/kg body weight, 2 times a day with an interval of 12 hours, and starting from the fourth day of administration, in a single dose of 6–10 mg/kg of body weight 2 times a day with an interval of 12 hours, with a total duration of the course not less than 6 weeks.
EFFECT: invention provides high therapeutic efficacy without compromising safety in long-term use.
