SUBSTANCE: invention relates to veterinary science and can be used to improve the quality of life of dogs with chronic diseases. Disclosed is the use of a veterinary composition containing trazodone succinate and gabapentin in a weight ratio of 1:1 to 1:4 and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, in which trazodone succinate is contained in amount of 2 mg to 420 mg, to improve the quality of life of dogs with chronic diseases in terms of improving indices which are not accompanied by pain sensations, selected from at least one of: ability to train, movement coordination, dexterity, emotional status, energy, muscle mass, quality of skin and wool, learning ability, attentiveness, appetite and drinking regimen, interest to fodder, general physical condition.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to quickly, effectively and safely improve the quality of life of dogs with various chronic diseases in terms of improving the above parameters, without the sedation effect.
