Device (15) includes feeders (4, 20) for transporting hose cuts (2) and for applying cover sheets (9) to cross-shaped bottoms (3) in the laying area (23). In addition, the device (15) includes a hot gas device (24) with a gas heater (30) and a nozzle (32) connected to the gas heater (30) directed towards the laying area (23) for cover sheets (9), wherein when gas is supplied to the gas heater (30), the gas flows along the flow path (33) from the gas supply through the gas heater (30) and nozzle (32) to the laying area (23). The hot gas device (24) has a hot gas reservoir (31) with an internal volume (36) for temporary hot gas storage, the flow path (33) passing through the hot gas reservoir (31).
EFFECT: mass flow 
of the gas supplied to the gas heater (30) can be controlled by the control system (34).
