RADIOCHEMICAL METHOD FOR PROTON FLOW MONITORING Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC G21B1/25 G01T3/00

Abstract RU 2792980 C1

FIELD: measuring means.

SUBSTANCE: means for measuring intense proton streams; experimental zones of proton accelerators; proton therapy for oncological diseases; proton radiography; diagnostics in the active zones of thermonuclear reactors. In the radiochemical method for monitoring the proton stream, the active substance in the form of a colourless liquid of halohexane of group 17 elements, halogens G with the structure of C6H13G: fluorohexane, chlorhexane, bromhexane, iodohexane, is irradiated with a proton stream. The resulting gaseous radioactive products of nuclear reactions, which are inert gases, are isolated from the active substance and their decays are recorded. The isotope of fluorine 19F, chlorine isotope 37Cl, bromine isotope 79Br, iodine isotope 127I are used as halogen. As a radioactive inert gas, radioactive isotopes 19Ne, 37Ar, 79Kr, 77Kr, 76Kr, 127Xe, 125Xe, 123Xe, 122Xe, 121Xe are formed in threshold nuclear reactions. The release of gaseous radioactive products of nuclear reactions from the active substance occurs due to diffusion. The rate of transfer of the released radioactive inert gas to the place of registration of its decays is chosen from the condition that the time before the start of registration of decays of the radioactive inert gas was less than the half-life of the radioactive inert gas.

EFFECT: simplification of the method, increasing its efficiency, providing the possibility of selective real-time monitoring of protons with different energies.
