SUBSTANCE: invention is related specifically to power management of a device such as an engine. The technical result is achieved by using the method of adjusting the braking of the engine, powered by the speed controller. The speed controller contains a plurality of at least N low voltage batteries connected in series, with N greater than or equal to 1. The engine braking adjustment method comprises the following operations during the engine braking period: determining (507) at least one average engine voltage for a given period depending on the values of engine voltages measured at the engine terminals for a given period; depending on the determined average voltage of the engine, determining (508) an average value of the rectified voltage, so that the rectified voltage corresponds to the voltage obtained at the output from the rectifier of each battery; adjusting (509) the braking of the electrical device depending on the average value of the rectified voltage.
EVENT: technical result of the claimed invention is to accelerate the braking of the engine, without an energy dissipation system and with protection of capacity of the batteries of the speed controller.
