SUBSTANCE: invention relates to off-road vehicles, and can be used as a propulsion unit and chassis of wheelchairs to overcome the last flights of stairs for general use. An auger propulsion unit contains a hollow cylindrical rotor with a helical ridge, provided with a rotation mechanism, and a swivel head. The swivel head is made with a cone angle of 60°, the helical ridges on which are made according to the scheme of helical lines with a constant pitch.

EFFECT: expanding the functionality of the auger propulsion unit and chassis of wheelchairs during movement.
