FIELD: absorbing electromagnetic energy.
SUBSTANCE: production of iron oxide (Fe3O4) in form of magnetite. Invention can be used in devices for absorbing electromagnetic energy in the radio frequency range. Magnetite is obtained by generating iron-containing electric discharge plasma into the main chamber. The chamber is evacuated and filled with a gas mixture of helium and oxygen in a ratio of 9:1. Generation is carried out using a coaxial magnetoplasma accelerator with a steel barrel and a composite central electrode made of a steel tip and a steel shank, with an electrically fusible jumper in form of a conductive carbon layer deposited on the surface of an insulator separating the electrically conductive barrel from the central electrode. The capacitance of the capacitor bank is 14.4 mF. The charging voltage of the capacitor bank is 2.5 kV. The powder collected from the walls of the chamber is mixed with isopropyl alcohol in the ratio of 50 ml of alcohol per 5 g of powder. The precipitated powder is poured into 50 ml of isopropyl alcohol, stirred in an ultrasonic bath, and the liquid with the finely dispersed powder fraction suspended in it is drained. The precipitated powder is dried in air under normal conditions.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to obtain a product with 90.1% of magnetite content by weight with an average particle size of 35 mcm with a minimum content of impurity phases.
