FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in machine building. Method of producing nanocrystalline cubic tungsten carbide involves preliminary evacuation of the chamber, filling it with gaseous argon at normal atmospheric pressure and room temperature. Tungsten- and carbon-containing electric-discharge plasma is generated by means of coaxial magnetoplasma accelerator with graphite barrel and composite central electrode including steel shank and tip made of tungsten, with electrically fusing jumper from pressed mixture of tungsten-containing precursor. Electrically a fusible link is arranged between the graphite barrel and the tip. As electrically fusing bridging, compacted ore tungsten-containing concentrate is used, which is initial raw material for tungsten production. Charging energy of energy accumulator is from 28 to 37 kJ.

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain a product with nanocrystalline cubic tungsten carbide content of 90–95_1 wt% with particle size of up to 80 nm, minimum content of by-product phases when using low-grade raw material for making tungsten.
