FIELD: inorganic chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: production of mesoporous monolithic aerogels of germanium dioxide. The method for producing a monolithic airgel based on amorphous germanium dioxide is based on the sol-gel method using supercritical drying process. Germanium dioxide is used as the germanium precursor. A weigh of germanium dioxide is suspended in water, after which an aqueous solution of ammonia is added to the suspension so that the concentration of ammonia in the resulting solution is 1 M, and that of germanium dioxide is from 0.3 to 1.5 M. The suspension is stirred until germanium dioxide is completely dissolved. The resulting solution is kept until the formation of the gel. Then the resulting aquagel is kept at a temperature of 50°C for two weeks, after which the solvent is replaced with dimethylformamide or dimethyl sulfoxide. The resulting gel is dried under supercritical conditions in CO2. The airgel is then annealed at a temperature of 300°C heating rate not more than 1°C/min and exposure at a given temperature for 10 minutes.
EFFECT: obtaining a monolithic airgel based on amorphous GeO2, characterized by high specific surface area and bulk porosity, without the use of germanium tetra-alkyls unstable during storage.
