FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in chemical industry. SiO2 xerogel is obtained via a sol-gel process from a silicon compound without solvent exchange by subcritical drying. Organic solid skeletal supports are made using organic monomers which are soluble or dispersible in polar protic solvents, which are added to a starting solution, a sol phase or after the beginning of gelation, such that the weight ratio of the organic component is not more than 20% of the silicate component. Inorganic xerogel with organic particles embedded in a mesh structure is dried at pressure of 1 bar and heat treated at temperature higher than 300°C.
EFFECT: disclosed method enables to obtain SiO2 xerogel with pore size in the range of 1000 nm to 50 nm, density of less than 400 kg/m3 and content of chemically weakly bound carbon residues of less than 10%.
