FIELD: underground storage of carbon dioxide; environmental protection.
SUBSTANCE: method of burying a mixture of gases, the main component of which is carbon dioxide, consists of the following steps: geological structures with a sealed cover are selected, in which the main rock-forming mineral of the clay component of the reservoir is swelling minerals - smectites, and which has thermobaric parameters that contribute to the long-term burial of said mixture of gases, while the main component of this mixture of gases is carbon dioxide in gaseous, supercritical or liquid states, while the mentioned geological structures have a depth of no more than 10 km. Wells are drilled for injection of a mixture of gases, the main component of which is carbon dioxide, in the mentioned geological structure or the said mixture is injected into existing wells in the mentioned geological structure with an interval of up to 10 km, while monitoring the distribution of carbon dioxide along the lateral and vertical in the mentioned structure in the specified range.
EFFECT: present invention is designed to increase the efficiency of storage of the mixture by minimizing the risks of migration of the mixture outside the trap along the lateral (horizontal) and vertical directions, by reducing the porosity and permeability parameters of the rock when exposed to a mixture in gaseous, supercritical and liquid state of aggregation.
