FIELD: protection from microwave radiation.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to protect electronic devices from microwave radiation in a predetermined frequency range. A method for converting incident microwave radiation into side scattering in a certain frequency range based on a metamaterial consisting of a dielectric container in which thin-wire helical-shaped conductive elements having one, two, three or four helical turns and one twist turn are evenly placed and equally oriented, the distance between adjacent elements is commensurate with the wavelength of the incident microwave radiation, and their linear dimensions are much smaller than it. The metamaterial has, in a predetermined narrow frequency range of microwave electromagnetic radiation, small values of the moduli of the reflection and transmission coefficients, converting oblique (normally) incident radiation into reradiation inside the dielectric container.
EFFECT: creation of a frequency-selective protective screen based on a planar metamaterial.
