FIELD: electrodes.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an electrode and an electrochemical cell containing said electrode, as well as to methods for using said electrode, for example, in a lithium-ion battery at high C-rate values of 5C or more, such as 10C or more, during charging and/or discharge. The electrochemical cell contains a working electrode containing niobium-tungsten oxide selected from Nb16W5O55, Nb18W16O93 and combinations thereof. Niobium-tungsten oxides have favourable lithium diffusion properties and therefore exhibit excellent performance.
EFFECT: increase of the volumetric energy density and the rate of charging and discharging.
