FIELD: catalytic reactors.

SUBSTANCE: reactor for catalytic chemical reactions containing a catalyst bed in the form of a cylindrical ring and a radial or combined axial-radial direction of the cross flow; at least a first cylindrical wall and a second cylindrical wall that define the boundaries of the catalyst layer and are in direct contact with the catalyst, and the second wall runs inside the first wall coaxially with it; moreover, the first wall and the second wall have passages that make these walls gas-permeable; the passages are slots having an elongated shape in the longitudinal direction of the slots and a corresponding transverse dimension in the transverse direction, which is perpendicular to the longitudinal direction; the catalyst layer is composed of catalyst particles having a nominal minimum size such that: the ratio of the transverse slot size and the nominal minimum size of the catalyst particles is equal to or less than 0.6; the catalyst layer contains no more than 3 wt. % of particles whose size is smaller than the nominal size, while the minimum particle size of the catalyst is determined as the square root of the maximum area of the living section of a square mesh of a sieve that traps the catalyst. A method for loading a catalyst into the reactor described above is described.

EFFECT: possibility of using a catalyst with a very small particle size in a catalytic chemical reactor with a radial or axial-radial flow without adversely affecting the operation and reliability of the perforated walls.
