FIELD: chemical industry.
SUBSTANCE: to obtain ammonia, the initial natural gas, methane, is purified from sulfur compounds and subjected to a two-stage conversion: steam converting of methane in a tubular furnace, then steam-air converting in a shaft converter during the interaction of the converted gas after the tubular furnace with air heated to 480-530°C. The resulting converted gas is cooled and sent sequentially to a two-stage medium-temperature conversion and low-temperature conversion of carbon monoxide, then to the separation of water and purification from carbon dioxide to obtain a converted gas containing CO in an amount of 0.25-0.5 vol.% and CO2 in an amount 0.05-0.1 vol.%. The converted gas is subjected to dehydration and compression to 12.0-20.0 MPa, after which it is sent to the methanol synthesis stage to obtain methanol and the gas phase, which is subjected to methanation, water is separated from the methanation product. The resulting dehydrated synthesis gas is subjected to compression to 20.0-33.0 MPa and sent to the stage of ammonia synthesis on an iron catalyst to obtain the target product.
EFFECT: minimization of the content of CO and CO2 in the gas directed to the synthesis of ammonia, reduction of the loss of hydrogen, and prevention of the need to increase the natural gas consumption.
