FIELD: medical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to technologies of radiation therapy with fast neutrons. The wall of the biological protection housing has a thickness of 5 mm with a housing height of 30 cm, and the housing is filled with mechanical mixture of grains of tungsten pentaboride W2B5 obtained from ground charge WO3 reduced by the aluminothermic method, with a grain fraction from 30 microns to 3 millimeters, with a fraction of pentaboride 0.8 without compaction, polyethylene and hydrogen-containing material in the form of heavy hydride powder: TaH0.8, HfH4.45, La-Ce H3. The built-in neutron channel contains nested applicators, the shape of a circular cone, and the walls of the channel, the applicators and the body of the device, soldered with tin, are made of thin sheets of 5 mm from W-Cu-Ni tungsten composite.
EFEFCT: proposed invention is industrially applicable, cost-effective and through the use of biological and functional protection with a mechanical mixture of a mixture of pentaboride allows to reduce the radiation load on the patient's organs up to 3 times; reduce radiation exposure to personnel up to 10 times; reduce the treatment fraction to 22.5–25 minutes (180–200 cGy).
