FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medical equipment, specifically to a radiator for neutron capture therapy, which comprises an input of a fibre bundle, a target, retarder adjacent to said target, reflector around said retarder, thermal neutron absorber adjacent to retarder, reactor biological protection array and fibre bundle outlet arranged in irradiator. Target operates with proton beams output from the input of the fibre bundle. Neutron beam axis is directed to retarder, which slows neutrons separated from target directed to epithermal neutron active zone. Retarder comprises at least one truncated cone shape. Deflected neutrons will be reflected back to axis to increase epithermal neutron beam intensity, thermal neutron absorber absorbs thermal neutrons in order to avoid excessive surface doses in therapy directly under surface normal tissues.
EFFECT: reactor biological protection array is intended for protection against leakage of neutrons and photons in order to reduce a dose for normal tissues in non-irradiated zones.
